Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich is the president of the Bangkok Bank Public Company Ltd. and the incumbent chairman of the Thai Banker's Association. The American-educated banker earned two Master¡¦s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)¡Xone in business management and the other in chemical engineering. Mr. Sophonpanich had accumulated several years of working experience at Citibank in New York before he returned to Thailand and started his career with Bangkok Bank. He had served as senior manager at various divisions before he assumed the position as president of the bank in December 1994. Mr. Sophonpanich holds positions at several other institutions. He is a management committee member at the Thai Assets Management Corporation, a board member of the Visa International, a board member of the Thai Airways International, chairman of the fund-raising committee of the Thai Red-Cross, and a committee member of the International Human Resource Development Foundation
