The Asian Bankers Association (ABA) and Qorus, an ABA Knowledge Partner, held a professional Training Workshop on “Demystifying AI in Banking (Part II): Agentic AI: From Automation to Autonomous Decision-Making” on 18 December 2025 led by Rudradeb Mitra, world-recognized AI researcher, entrepreneur and author of “Creating Value with AI”.

Dozens of participants from Cambodia, Nepal, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Vietnam joined the intensive two-hour training. Paid participants received a summary of the presentation and exclusive access to the training’s edited recording at the ABA’s YouTube channel, together with a Certificate of Participation.

The session explored the practical deployment of AI in banking through agents, small language models (SLMs), and large language models (LLMs). While LLMs are for general-purpose, the real value for banks comes from specialized SLMs, which allow the creation of task-specific workflows across departments. Project managers and teams can leverage this to efficiently implement AI solutions without overwhelming complexity. The session highlighted real-world examples, showcasing how agents and SLMs can analyze codes, contracts, and processes while providing explainability and improving overall efficiency.

A sample of the training workshop's video is available at the ABA YouTube channel.
