The Asian Bankers Association (ABA) is inviting members and friends to join the "Effective Transaction Monitoring & High Quality STR Reporting Workshop", organized in association with Fintelekt Advisory Services, an ABA knowledge Partner. This in-person event will take place on 17–18 September 2026 at the Aloft Hotel, Bangkok.
(1) Introduction
As financial crime grows increasingly sophisticated and cross-border in nature, the Financial Action Task Force (FATP) and by extension, regulators in each country, are shifting their focus from technical compliance to demonstrable effectiveness. It is no longer enough to have systems in place. Institutions must prove that their controls detect, disrupt, and report illicit activity in practice.
Fintelekt’s intensive two-day regional workshop aims to bring together AML/CFT compliance professionals from across the region to confront one of the most persistent challenges in the field: transforming transaction monitoring from a volume-driven, alert-clearing exercise into a genuinely intelligence-led capability that produces high-quality, actionable Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR).
Through a blend of expert-led sessions, practical case studies and peer discussions, participants will examine how to calibrate monitoring rules, reduce false positives, enrich alert investigations, and draft STRs that provide real value to Financial Intelligence Units. By convening professionals from different countries, the workshop creates a rare opportunity to compare typologies, regulatory expectations, and practical solutions, recognising that criminal networks operate across borders, and so too must our collective response.
(2) Objective
To calibrate monitoring rules, reduce false positives, enrich alert investigations, and prepare STRs that provide real value to Financial Intelligence Units.
